Bath Salts is a very dangerous drug
June 3rd, 2012
“Ivory Wave,” “Purple Wave,” Vanilla Sky,” and “Bliss” — all are among the many street names of a so-called designer drug known as “bath salts,” which has sparked thousands of calls to poison centers across the U.S. over the last year.
Recent news from Florida concerning a horrific attack on a homeless person by a man who consumed bath salts is shining a light on a truly terrible drug. Disguised as a seemingly innocent product, this “drug” is extremely dangerous both to the person who consumes it and to those around them as evidenced by the attack on the homeless man. Bath salts produce a volatile cocktail in the human body and make people very agitated, violent and/or suicidal.
You can find them in mini-marts and smoke shops sold as Ivory Wave, Bolivian Bath, and other names. The people who make and sell bath salts have skirted the laws that make these types of things illegal. Oklahoma has banned the sale of bath salt products but they still make their way into our state.
